Can You Find the Symbolism?

"Inside the snow globe on my fathers desk, there was a penguin wearing a red-and-white striped scaref. When I was little my father would pull me into his lap and reach for the snow globe. He would turn it over, letting all the snow collect on the top, then quickly invert it. The two of us watched the snow gently around the penguin. The penguin was alone in ther, I thought, and I worried for him. When I told my father this, he said, "Dont worry, Susie: he has a nice life. He's trapped in a perfect world."

Snow Globe Snowman

I think the penguin was suppose to be her. Everything was so perfect as a child but she knew that something could always go wrong and that's what scared her. Do you agree?

New Book

Lovely Bones
By: Alice Sebold

Lovely Bones

I chose to read this book because of all the high recommendations for it. The book also had interesting topics like death, heaven, and mystery. Also when I read the review the trap was snapped. I have high expectations for this book. I hope by the end I'm raving to everyone about how good it was just like CANDY. I expect it to be an extremely good read.I also looked up the author- Alice Sebold. He is an American Writer and is 44 years old. When she was 18 years old and a freshman at Syracuse, she was attacked, beaten and brutally raped in the tunnel to an amphitheatre.[2] After some months at home Sebold returned to Syracuse to finish her bachelor’s degree and study writing. Months later, while walking down a street near the Syracuse campus, she recognized her rapist and secured his arrest and conviction."This book is 324 pages. I want to read for 4 weeks. 100 pages for the first week and 24 for the fourth.

Oh Yeah...

Here are other characters...
Iggy : Candy's pimp Iggy controls Candy's life, using her addiction as a tool. He is a violent man, bent on destroying Candy and Joe's new life as friends
Gina : Joe's older sister. She cares and worries for Joe but is supportive of his relationship with Candy.
Mike : Gina's fiance. He provides Joe with many favours through his inside connections in his Djing hobby.
This post isn't going to be long because I'm going to go finish this book. Right now Candy and Joe are hidden in a cabin but Iggy knows where they are because he has Joe's sister. So Joe told Mike to come since Iggy's coming. Let's have a party I guess. Who's going to get there first?

Being a prostitute is... hard, dangerous, scary!!!!

Here's the Setting. Say OOOOO LOL

I change my mind.

I don't hate her. She has been trying to stop her addiction. She gets really abrassive at times and it shows how much he really loves her. He's still with her. NOT

Here's a character profile on Candy:
-outspoken - nice personality
-prostitute - Likes Joe (kisses him pg 207)
-addicted to heroine - kind of CraZy
-much more...

I hate that girl.

Candy. She is the center of Joe's world, the light of his life, the climax of his story. It seem as if nothing mattered before she came along. Her pale skin, bright hair, and thin frame intriges him. Also the fact that she even notices him helped alot. I thought that she would of helped his pathetic attempt at a self-esteem. However Candy isn't good. She's a prostitute and a heroine addict.
Heroin is an extremely dangerous and addictive drug. It scares me that someone so young can be so confused.
Oh yeah and her pimp doesn't like Joe. This girl is an extremely bad influece but I can't stop reading about her. I'm addicted to Candy.

Week 1: Blog Post 1
I chose to read this book because of all the high recommendations for it. The book also had interesting topics like teenage drama, and drugs. Also when I read the review I was hooked. I have high expectations for this book. I hope by the end I'm raving to everyone about how good it was. I expect it to be an extremely good read.
I also looked up the author- Kevin Brooks. He is an english writer and is 49 years old. Kevin grew up in England and studied in London. Something interesting about him was his previous jobs. "Kevin Brooks has been in a variety of jobs including: musician, gasoline station attendant, crematorium handyman, civil service clerk, hot dog vendor at the London Zoo, post office clerk, and railway ticket office clerk."
This book is 364 pages. I want to read for 4 weeks. 100 pages for the first week and 68 for the fourth.
